Understanding the relationships between colors is the key to creating visually stunning designs. Our generator uses these principles to create harmonies.
Complementary colors are opposite each other on the color wheel (e.g., Red and Green). This creates high contrast and high impact. Use this for Call-to-Action buttons or to highlight key elements, but use sparingly to avoid jarring visual vibration.
Analogous colors are next to each other on the color wheel (e.g., Blue, Blue-Green, Green). They usually match well and create serene and comfortable designs. Analogous color schemes are often found in nature and are harmonious and pleasing to the eye.
A triadic color scheme uses colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel. Triadic color harmonies tend to be quite vibrant, even if you use pale or unsaturated versions of your hues. To use a triadic harmony successfully, the colors should be carefully balanced.
A classic decor rule that helps create a balanced color palette. It states that 60% of the room should be a dominant color, 30% should be the secondary color or texture and the last 10% should be an accent.
